Having met Andrew Meltzer on a collaboration for his youtube channel, we got to talking and I quickly learned that his bartending skill was more than just a way for him to make a living and serve drinks, and instead he approaches bartending the same way that a Michelin Star chef or a master Sommelier would. It's his devotion and creative outlook for spirits and mixology that inspired me to want to want to photograph him at the historic bar that he manages 15 Romolo, in North Beach San Francisco. His spirited journey began in '09, switching from a marketing background to the food and beverage industry. Andrew advanced quickly and soon developed his own signature style of unique pairings of flavors with spirits, and he is considered by many as a prolific and wildly intricate developer of cocktail recipes. Andrew was named Bartender of the year in the 2015 USBG LEGACY COCKTAIL SHOWCASE competition, one of the most unique and inventive events in the world of mixology, and he’s been a national finalist in major events from Diageo World Class and the grueling USBG/IBA Shake It Up! competition, as well as making his way to the global finals of the Domaine de Canton Bartender of the Year competition in 2014.
